Welcome to BBQwest

On December 6, 2000, BBQ west was opened for business in West Monroe, LA. With only $111.11 left in the check book and all credit cards maxed out, Robert and Diana Lewis started on their journey. BBQwest #2 and #3 opened in West Monroe and Monroe in 2003. In May of 2012, a decision was made to sell and move to Lake Charles to be closer to their grandchildren. After months of careful consideration they opened the Lake Charles BBQwest on October 22,2012.

History

As we all know, 2019 was a very trying year. It started with a pandemic that affected our restaurant. 3/22/19 our indoor dining was closed and shuttered our business to drive-thru only resulting in a loss of sales of approximately 60%. Finally, we saw a little relief on 5/15/19 when we were allowed indoor dining to open at 25%. As we teeter tottered between phases 1 and 2 with each COVID update, Southwest LA was then devastated by Hurricane Laura on 8/29/19. With maximum winds up to 149 miles per hour, we came back to our homes and restaurant decimated. We would have to completely rebuild BBQwest. After eleven days without power we could finally begin to put the pieces back together. Just as progress was starting to begin, Hurricane Delta arrived 10/9/2019. Although only a Category 2, Hurricane Delta brought much more rainfall. With an already ruined roof and over 17 inches of rainfall that dumped on Lake Charles we stood no match. After dealing with these trials and tribulations, we were sure November would be our month! Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances with our contractor it would not be. Finally starting 12/7/19, our luck would change. We received many great recommendations such as Bellon Construction, Montgomery Electric, Blue Fish Painting, and Martin Insulation. We also had our most loyal companies we have always done business with such as Star A/C, Able Plumbing and Acme signs. By 1/8/20, BBQwest with the help of its true heroes, it’s employees, would be ready to open. We would like to thank all of our employees that dedicated such time and hard work to bring us back to what we once were. We will always be indebted to our loyal, hard working, never wavering employees.
